ABOUT STEFFIE WALLACE

Steffie Wallace is a Melbourne artist who has been painting and exhibiting landscapes for 40 years. In addition to her art studies at the National Gallery Art School, the Prahran College of Advanced Education and Swinburne University, she has worked as an illustrator, art journalist, CAE lecturer, gallery director, art marketing manager and web designer. She has as also written a novel, 'The August Months', originally published in 1996 and re-published in 2017.
Steffie's work is held in local and overseas collections and has been widely exhibited, both in Australia and overseas. She has won national and international awards, the most recent being the MSWPS Judith Perrey  Prize for Painting and the George Bass Art Prize in 2025.
Highlights of her career include winning second prize for painting at the 2015 Florence Biennale, a solo exhibition at the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery in 2018, participation in the London Art Biennale where she won awards in 2019 and 2021, and a 1-year artist’s residency at 'Billilla', Brighton, with the Bayside Gallery in Melbourne in 2022.The collective works produced by the Billilla artists were exhibited at the Bayside Gallery in late 2023.
